Is your website ready for Drupal 10?
Drupal 9 was released last summer, and its updated version will be officially on the market in about two years. For D9 users this will not be a kind of system coup though it is important to consider the various details of the upgrade in order to be ready for the D10. This is exactly what Jim Birch of Kanopi suggests.
It is also noteworthy that the D10 has two potential deferral plans. From August, in case of problems, the date will be postponed, and then until December.
This guide will discuss the important details of D10, what is included in the update, and how to prepare your site.

What is included in the D10?
Unlike previous releases (transition from D7 to D8 for example) this will not be a systemic coup. Just add new or improved features:
- Improvements to Layout Builder and media library with out-of-the-box functionality
- Improved development workflow; Pay special attention to menus and URLs
- Replacement of CKEditor 4 with CKEditor 5 which comes with modern editing tools
- Replace Symfony 4 with Symfony 5 and improve PHP (7-> 8). PHP 8 is a significant upgrade to PHP scripting language.
These upgrades will make Drupals platform easier to use while offering developers more advanced tools to use.How to prepare for the D10 release
Depending on which Drupal version you use the process will be different accordingly.
For D7 users: The D7 deadline is November 2022. Although the D10 has the tools to switch from D7 to it, it is recommended that you switch to D9 right now. By taking such a step you will ensure that the site is updated and uses modern security tools.
For D8 users: The D8 deadline was November 2, 2021. Accordingly the migration has already been done.
For D9 users: This is the strongest position during the D10 standby period. Constantly update the code and ensure the high quality of the site condition. For example: automated tests.
All Drupal users can contact the D10 team on the Slack channel (# d10readiness) and ask questions. They hold meetings every Monday at 10 am Georgian time.
