Cardano Foundation announced a partnership with the National Wine Agency of Georgia. Cardanos blockchain technology will be used to ensure that the quality of Georgian wine is constantly high.
The foundation will develop a creative and efficient certification and traceability system together with Scantrust, a Swiss products and packaging platform. The pilot program includes 100, 000 bottles of wine bottled next spring in Bolnisi, Kvemo Kartli region. The user will be able to check its authenticity with the help of a unique QR code.
Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla, says that Cardanos technology enables the large-scale use of supply chain traceability. Last year, the Georgian government also partnered with Norwegian blockchain company WiV Technology to issue irreplaceable tokens for its wine.
The idea of eliminating wine adulteration through blockchain is not new. Back in 2018, venture capital firm Medici Ventures acquired a stake in wine control company Vin-X.
